Recycling
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) was introduced in January 2007 and aims to reduce the amount of electrical and electronic equipment being produced and to encourage everyone to reuse, recycle and recover it. Some electrical products may contain hazrdous materials and present a risk to wildlife, human health and the environment. As a retailer of electical products we take our responsability to help you dispose of these products seriously.
Many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save natural resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending waste electrical goods to landfill. If you're replacing an old electrical product you know the old one has been disposed of in a responsible manner. When you purchase an item from us to replace something similar, you should take the old one to your local recycling facility or you may send the old one to us for safe and responsable disposal or recycling. We won't charge you to process the item but you must return it at your expense and be a similar type of product - a clock for a clock for example.
If you are unable to send the item to us we can arrange for it to be collected (additional fees will apply depending on the size, weight and location). If you would like to use this service, please contact us for more information on the charges associated with collecting used electical goods for safe disposal.
If you've got a small portable item to recycle you should make sure your old electronics can be recycled. To do this, just look for the crossed out wheelie bin symbol on the packaging or product. This means you should either send the product to be repaired and reused, or take it to your local recycling facility. The staff there will make sure everything is disposed of responsibly in a way that doesn't affect the environment.
